Radio Quiet Zone (RQZ)

Radio Quiet Zone Mode

Some operational areas—such as locations near scientific research facilities or satellite arrays—require vehicles to minimise radio emissions. TRACKbox TB2 and TRACKbox 4 devices include a Radio Quiet Zone Mode to support these requirements.

How It Works

Vehicles fitted with the optional Radio Quiet Zone button can temporarily disable RF transmissions from all connected TRACKbox devices.

  • Press the button once to activate Quiet Zone Mode.

  • The LED ring around the button will illuminate to indicate the mode is active.

  • Press the button again to deactivate and return the system to normal operation.

What Happens in Quiet Zone Mode

While enabled, TRACKbox devices will:

  • Stop all standard RF transmissions

  • Continue to record and store GPS and telematics data locally (no loss of tracking information)

For safety, essential alerts will still be transmitted if required:

  • Panic / duress events

  • Crash or rollover alerts

Once the button is released and the LED turns off, the device resumes normal transmission. All stored telematics data will be back-filled.

When to Use This Feature

Quiet Zone Mode should be used only in designated radio-restricted areas as defined by your organisation or site operator.
